Table width problem

Hi, is there a way to set the table width, or fixed cell widths?

I'm having a problem where the width of a table expands to the right (even beyond the margin) based on the text that is in the cells. If there is a long word or number, that is wider than the cell, the cell stretches to accomodate the word that apparently can't be broken.

Similarly, if all the content of the cells is shorter than the sum of the cell widths that I have specified the table width shrinks. This happened on a table with 6 columns. A table with only 2 columns didn't shrink.

I have a page that contains several tables, one under the other. It looks much neater if all the tables are the same width.

Also, I wasn't able to reuse a table style. I had to replicate the style with a different name for each table on the page.

I'm adding a list of all the issues I haven't been able to resolve, so they're in one place:

Can’t set minimum table row height.

                Extra lines in table cells.

A word longer than the cell width expands the table to the right.

Table width shrinks (apparently can't set fixed cell widths).

Regular flush left Text occasionally runs beyond specified margins.

Header and footer are inside the page margins.
